Activate Learning is pleased to propose a solution addressing the identified need for additional professional development for Secondary School Teachers of STEM subjects.

📍 Location:

We propose a residential training course held at our scenic Merrist Wood College, located on a 400-acre estate in the Surrey countryside.

  • Just a short distance from the historic town of Guildford

  • Only 40 minutes by train to London

  • Residential accommodation rated as “Outstanding” by Ofsted, the UK government education inspection agency

🎯 Programme Goals:

The training aims to empower participants to:

  • Advance and elevate their STEM teaching practices

  • Build international connections with UK-based STEM institutions

  • Experience UK secondary schools in session

  • Engage with innovative teaching methodologies and project-based learning


Expected Outcomes:

By the end of the programme, participating teachers will be able to:

  • Design an updated teaching module/unit using project-based learning and learner-centered strategies

  • Plan with greater intentionality, applying a variety of thinking tools

  • Implement the “Think Like an Engineer” design process in their lesson planning

  • Explore and reflect on various UK STEM educational sites and initiatives
